about annette

To Editors: Annette lives on a north Texas ranch with her husband, John. A mother and former public and homeschool teacher, she doesn’t think her insights are any more special than yours, but does believe we help each other by sharing what we’ve experienced, learned and discovered with one another. And she believes we should especially be sharing our insights with our children! First published by the Dallas Morning News after becoming an empty nester when her daughter left for college in 2001, she has since written weekly columns for numerous websites, newspapers and magazines. Visit her website and participate in her blog at www.annettebridges.com.

Born in Chamblee, Georgia, she is the youngest in her family and the only girl.  Being raised in a family with three brothers, she was happy to welcome a daughter when she started her own family.
Annette lives with her husband, John, on his family cattle ranch under a big Texas sky.
Writing aspirations began as a young child with journal-keeping.  But she would not be published until she became an empty nester when her daughter left for college.
All her years have been spent in the south except for college years in Illinois.  With a B.A. degree in Sociology and graduate studies in Early Childhood Education, she has been an educator in public schools as well as a home-schooling mom and worked in various social service and community organizations.
Besides writing, she loves country music, watching movies, reading, being with family, traveling to her favorite places – Disney World and anywhere with an ocean view – and watching reality TV shows.
A big fan of Gene Autry, she helped organize the first Gene Autry Music Festival in Texas. She is currently a board member for the Tioga Museum & Heritage Association. The TMHA maintains the Tioga Heritage Museum which features memorabilia of Tioga’s most famous son – Gene Autry. She also coordinates the monthly Western Trade Days, which is a fundraiser for the TMHA. Visit the website: www.westerntradedays.com
She is also a big fan of spirituality and health author, Mary Baker Eddy, whose ideas continue to influence her life. She agrees with Mary Baker Eddy that the Bible holds "the recipe for all healing!"
