I’m a multi-generational southerner. I try my best to emulate my mama’s southern charm and hospitality. And in that spirit, I’d like to warmly welcome you to my web site!
I’d like to introduce myself and my writing to you. I am a mother and former public and homeschool teacher. My first published column was in the Dallas Morning News not long after I became an empty nester when my only child left for college two weeks prior to September 11, 2001.
In my struggle to fathom what happened on that tragic day, I couldn’t help but wonder about those who lost their lives. I asked myself “Had they told their spouses they loved them before they left for work? Had they given their child a hug? Had they shared their valuable life lessons with anyone?"
I began asking myself if I had told my daughter everything I wanted her to know. It was in those months following 9/11 that I realized the importance of such communication, and my published writing began.
I admit that my life lessons are not more special than anyone else's, but I do think we need to share what we’re learning with one another, and we need especially to share our insights with our children.
My goal is to offer a positive message and healing ideas in response to news, current events and life’s occasions. And hopefully in doing so, I am also leaving a legacy to my daughter that will prove to be helpful and useful to her on her life journey. And hopefully, too, my ideas will be helpful and useful to others.
